What to Expect From This Blog
Greetings everyone,
My name is Mitchell. Introductions have never been my strong suit, but in general I'd consider myself a fairly normal guy. My interests are relatively broad, in that I consume history, geography, science, language, media and other areas of study with glee. Like many people, though, I also enjoy my fair share of animated properties and serialized cartoons. I like them so much that I've decided to create a blogspot purely for the discussion and analysis of such media.
My purpose with this website is creating an outlet to express my love of animation - and by extension, sharing that fondness with other individuals. I don't intend for this site to be the source of toxicity, and any questionable or non-cordial discussions will be dealt with. Nonetheless, I also intend for this blogspot to have open minded and fair critiques of a given show, film or other such media. Not everyone will agree with my personal assessments, and that's absolutely the point; To the best of my ability, I welcome anyone to challenge my opinion on something, and perhaps enlighten me to a different perspective or angle.
The structure of my reviews may also be a bit scattershot. At present, I haven't decided if the blog will focus on one specific show in sequence (for example, all of a single season before moving on), or cover different animations at random by only examining a single isolated episode. The pattern will reveal itself in time, however, as will the volume and variety of analyzed media. To that point, there are a few definite animated titles that I intend to look at. These included several American or western based cartoons from the 2000s, such as "Avatar", it's sequel series "Legend of Korra", "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", "Justice League Unlimited" and others. Beyond that culture of media, I also intend to review some non-english animations, such as the acclaimed works of Studio Ghibli. And of course, if a reader has a recomended title they wish to see discussed, I'm always open to suggestions left in the comment section.
For the foreseable future, I ask every reader to remain considerate and curious about what's being discussed here. After all, animation provides storytellers with such a diverse visual medium, it wouldn't seem fair to criticize their work with a narrow/biased viewpoint. Please keep that in mind going forward, and more importantly - have fun. This field is meant to be enjoyed, so let's enjoy it.
